Scary moon
Around 9pm tonight (as I write this but August 21, 2012 for those of you not in my room) I noticed a square in the night sky made up of four objects. I decided to take a few snap shots of it with my new Nikon D800 using the Nikkor 70mm-300mm. The night square was made up of the Curiosity’s new home Mars, Saturn, the Earth’s moon and the star Spica.
Here are the results with the settings F5.3, 1/1.3, iso 400 and at 200mm.

Pretty cool to see.
Great colors!
THanks Lenny.
That is one of my favorite quotes. I read the Winter’s Tale at least 5 times.
Great post, I loved the pictures.
I didn’t get the chance to see it, clouds were out.
What ISO did you use?
I used 400 ISO and kept it open for 1.2 seconds.
It’s amazing how small they are in the sky but so big.
That’s so cool!
Such a rare event you are lucky to get photos of these.
Reminds me of the old moon McDonald’s used to have in their commercials.
I can never tell if it is a star or a planet.
